Privacy
Your story stays yours.
- Your words stay yours. We don't use your drafts to train any systems.
- Processing only. Your manuscript is processed solely to produce your editorial feedback — then discarded unless you save the report.
- You control what's stored. If you save a report, manuscript text is retained per your prose retention setting. You can adjust your retention period or delete prose at any time.
- Story Memory is opt-in. You choose whether to build a Story Memory. We save only the structure (characters, plot threads, voice patterns)—not your full manuscript. If you enable prose retention during a build, chapter text is retained per your prose retention setting then auto-deleted.
At LineMind Novelist, we respect your work, your readers, and your trust. Our goal is to give you clear editorial feedback while keeping your draft safe and private.
Our Commitment
- We do not use your manuscript to train any AI model or build any prose dataset.
- We do not build profiles or analytics from your creative content. Your words are for your diagnostic only.
- We retain your work no longer than necessary. Unsaved manuscripts are processed and discarded. Saved report prose is retained only as long as your retention setting allows.
- Your voice remains yours. We exist to support your craft, not to harvest your creativity.
Story Memory
Story Memory is an optional feature that lets LineMind Novelist remember the shape of your story—not the words themselves. Before you can build your first Story Memory, you must acknowledge that you understand what data is retained and how it's used. Once you consent, you won't be asked again.
What IS Saved
When you build a Story Memory, we extract and store:
- Book title & chapter structure — e.g., "Chapter 12: The Betrayal"
- Character roster — e.g., Elena (protagonist), Marcus (secondary)
- Character states & arcs — e.g., "Elena: suspicious → betrayed → conflicted"
- Relationships — e.g., "Elena → Marcus: trusted ally → complicated"
- Plot thread status — e.g., "The Informant: resolved in Ch. 12"
- World facts & terms — e.g., "The Inquisition controls the capital"
- Voice fingerprint — e.g., "Past tense, third-person limited, sardonic tone"
- 2–3 short style exemplars — Brief quotes (~15 words each) showing your voice
What is NOT Saved
- Your manuscript text
- Your chapter prose
- Anything sufficient to reconstruct your writing
Your draft is processed to extract the structure above. By default, chapter prose is discarded after extraction. If you enable prose retention during a build, chapter text is retained per your prose retention setting then auto-deleted. Prose is not stored permanently as part of Story Memory. If you need to rebuild your Story Memory later, you must re-upload your manuscript file.
How It's Used
When you run a diagnostic with "Story-Aware Mode" enabled, LineMind Novelist knows what your reader already knows by that chapter, where your characters are emotionally, which plot threads are active, and what your established voice sounds like. So feedback on Chapter 25 reflects the 24 chapters before it—without needing your full manuscript in memory.
What information we collect
We collect only what's necessary to provide editorial feedback and maintain a secure, reliable service.
Manuscript Data
Your manuscript text is used solely to generate your diagnostic report. If you save a report, manuscript text is retained according to your account's prose retention setting, which you can configure at any time.
Diagnostic Reports
For anonymous users, editorial feedback exists only during your session. Registered users can save reports, which stores the diagnostic results along with your manuscript text. You control how long prose is retained via your prose retention setting in Account Settings, and you can delete individual report prose or all reports at any time.
Story Memory Data (Opt-In)
If you choose to build a Story Memory, we store structural story data (characters, plot threads, relationships, voice patterns, and a few brief style exemplars). This data is stored persistently in your account to enable story-aware diagnostics. Your actual manuscript prose is not stored permanently as part of Story Memory. If you enable prose retention during a build, chapter text is retained per your prose retention setting then auto-deleted. You can delete your Story Memory at any time.
Account Data
Email address and access credentials for all registered users. Billing information is collected only for paid tiers. Used only to provide access, billing, fraud prevention, and support.
Technical Data
- Technical logs. Limited data such as IP address, browser type, timestamps, and basic event data used for reliability, abuse prevention, and performance analytics. Your manuscript content is never included in these logs.
- Feedback & ratings. If you mark a diagnostic as helpful or leave a comment, we use that input to improve clarity and quality.
- Cookies. We use essential cookies (session, rate-limit, security). If analytics are enabled, we use minimal, privacy-respecting analytics to understand feature usage—not to profile individual authors.
How we protect your data
- Encryption. Data in transit is protected by HTTPS.
- Server-side processing. Sensitive processing happens on our servers; prompts, keys, and internal logic are not exposed in your browser.
- Access limits. Operational access is restricted to what’s necessary to run the service and support you.
- Abuse safeguards. Input validation and rate-limiting help keep the system stable and safe to use.
How we share your data
We do not sell your data. We share information only with service providers who help us operate LineMind Novelist, under contractual data-protection obligations.
- AI processing provider. Our proprietary diagnostic system interacts with a secure third-party AI service as part of generating your editorial feedback. Your prose is not used for any other purpose. The provider's standard security logging (up to 30 days) is referenced in our Data Retention section.
- Email delivery provider. Your email address and notification content (such as verification codes or diagnostic results) are transmitted through a third-party email service to deliver messages reliably.
- Newsletter provider (opt-in). If you choose to subscribe to our newsletter, your email address and name are shared with a third-party mailing list provider. You can unsubscribe at any time.
We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties.
Your choices & controls
- Use without an account. You can try the tool without creating an account (free tier).
- Story Memory consent. Before your first Story Memory build, you must acknowledge that you understand what is extracted and stored. This is a one-time consent per account.
- Delete Story Memory. You can delete your Story Memory at any time from your project page. This permanently removes all stored structural data for that manuscript.
- Saved reports. You can delete individual report prose, adjust your prose retention period, or clear all reports from Account Settings.
- Contact us any time. You can request access to or deletion of your personal information and stored drafts (when applicable).
Data retention
- Drafts (LineMind). Unsaved manuscripts are not kept beyond the diagnostic run. If you save a report, manuscript text is retained according to your prose retention setting (configurable in Account Settings).
- Story Memory. If you build a Story Memory, the extracted structural data (characters, plots, voice patterns) is stored persistently until you delete it. By default, your original manuscript prose is discarded after extraction. If you enable prose retention during a build, chapter text is retained per your prose retention setting then auto-deleted.
- Technical logs. Retained for a limited period to ensure reliability, security, and service quality.
- Saved reports. If you save a diagnostic report, your manuscript text is retained according to your prose retention setting (configurable in Account Settings). You may choose 14, 30, 45, or 90 days, or opt to keep prose indefinitely. You can delete your prose at any time.
- Third-party processing. As part of generating your report, our diagnostic system processes manuscript data through a secure third-party service. The provider's standard security and audit logging may retain processed data briefly (up to 30 days) to ensure service integrity — never for training.
